Blockfrost Cardano
Blockfrost is a hosted REST gateway to Cardano block and transaction data, authenticated with a project_id API key, that has grown beyond its original chain to also serve the Milkomeda EVM sidechain, IPFS pinning, and, since April 2026, a GraphQL API for Cardano's Midnight privacy sidechain. Its free Starter plan allows 50,000 requests a day with no card required, and official SDKs cover JavaScript, Python, Java, and Dart.

Auth quickstart
- Sign up with the provider to get an API key.
- Send it on every request as a header
Authorization: <key> - The exact header isn't documented — Authorization is a common default; confirm in the provider's docs.
Your key is stored only in this browser (localStorage) and sent directly to the API — never to greatapis.
Developer reference
10 requests/second per IP, with a burst allowance of 500 requests that cools off at 10 req/s -- per the live OpenAPI spec at docs.blockfrost.io/blockfrost-openapi.yaml's 'Limits' section (separate from the plan-tier daily request caps already noted in this entry's summary).
