The Cat API pairs random and breed-filtered cat images with a structured 67-breed dataset (temperament, origin, weight, Wikipedia links) plus account features like image voting, favouriting, and uploads. Browsing images works anonymously at a throttled rate, but voting, favouriting, and uploading all return an authentication error without a free API key sent as the x-api-key header. A paid Startup plan ($99/month) adds a commercial license to redistribute the underlying image and breed data.
