eBird
eBird is Cornell Lab of Ornithology's REST API for its global citizen-science birding platform, serving recent, notable, and historic observation records by region or hotspot, plus reference endpoints for the full eBird taxonomy. Every call needs a free personal token — generated by logging into an eBird account at ebird.org/api/keygen — sent as the X-eBirdApiToken header; a live probe confirmed calls without a valid token return 403. Responses come back as JSON by default or CSV via the fmt query parameter, and there's no paid tier.
