ReqRes
ReqRes is a hosted REST API that returns realistic-looking JSON for a small set of resources (users, colors) plus register/login flows, purpose-built for practicing AJAX calls and API-client code without a real backend. It has moved away from its old fully-keyless model: every endpoint now returns a 401 requiring an x-api-key header, obtained for free from its companion app.reqres.in dashboard, which also lets you deploy small custom mock collections. The free key covers light usage, with paid tiers on app.reqres.in for higher limits and custom endpoints.

Auth quickstart
- Sign up with the provider to get an API key.
- Send it on every request as a header
Authorization: <key> - The exact header isn't documented — Authorization is a common default; confirm in the provider's docs.
Your key is stored only in this browser (localStorage) and sent directly to the API — never to greatapis.
