Telegram MTProto

Verified Jul 2026

MTProto is Telegram's own binary transport and encryption protocol for building full-featured client apps, distinct from the simplified Bot API — developers register an application for an api_id/api_hash pair, then authorize as a real user via phone-number login (SMS/QR/2FA), not a redirect-based OAuth flow. It's free to use, but as a raw binary socket protocol rather than a browser-facing HTTP/JSON API, there is no conventional Origin-header CORS surface to probe; left unknown rather than guessed.

Auth quickstart

  1. Sign up with the provider to get an API key.
  2. Send it on every request as a headerAuthorization: <key>
  3. The exact header isn't documented — Authorization is a common default; confirm in the provider's docs.

Your key is stored only in this browser (localStorage) and sent directly to the API — never to greatapis.
