Web3 Storage
Web3 Storage is the original brand for what is now Storacha Network, a decentralized hot-storage layer over Filecoin and IPFS that authenticates uploads with UCAN-based API tokens. The stored web3.storage URL permanently redirects to storacha.network, which returns a Cloudflare bot-fight 403 from this sandbox on every path (docs, console, and the up.storacha.network upload API are all unreachable here), so per the standing unverifiable-is-not-dead rule the URL was left unchanged rather than guessed. cors was reconfirmed via the still-live legacy gateway, api.web3.storage/user/uploads: a GET with an Origin header returned a 401 carrying Access-Control-Allow-Origin echoing the request Origin, confirming cors as yes, with API-key auth and HTTPS also reconfirmed on the same call. Storacha offers a free starter tier with paid usage-based overage above the included storage.

Auth quickstart
- Sign up with the provider to get an API key.
- Send it on every request as a header
Authorization: <key> - The exact header isn't documented — Authorization is a common default; confirm in the provider's docs.
Your key is stored only in this browser (localStorage) and sent directly to the API — never to greatapis.
